Sent a proposal two weeks ago to a client who seemed genuinely excited during our calls. We'd talked through their goals, I'd done the research, and the proposal was solid. Then silence. No reply, no rejection, just crickets. I've followed up once and got nothing back.
The strange part is I thought we had real rapport. They were engaged, asked smart questions, and even said they'd been burned by agencies before. So the silence feels less like disinterest and more like something I can't read. Maybe budget, maybe internal politics, maybe they just got busy.
I'm torn between following up again and letting it go. I don't want to be pushy, but I also know some deals die simply because nobody nudged them back to life. I've started wondering if my proposal was too detailed, or not detailed enough. Second-guessing is the worst part of this job.
For what it's worth, I've seen Social Media Management Services teams handle this with a simple "checking in" call rather than email, which apparently gets better responses. Curious what's worked for others here. Do you send a final breakup email, or just move on quietly? |
